CLASS NEWS

U3A at the Movies 2012

February: Mrs Caldicott’s Cabbage Wars. 2008.

March: The Outlaw. 1943. One of the most controversial movies of its time. The Outlaw features a sizzling performance by 22 year old Jane Russell.

April: Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. 2001. Breathtaking imagery set amid the Italian occupation of Greece during World War II.

May: Strangers on a Train.  1951. A timeless treat, a marvellous display of Hitchcock’s absolute mastery of his medium and a deliciously dark comedy as well.

June: The Hollywood Sign. 2001. The Heist of a Lifetime.

July: East of Eden. 1955. Emotionally overwhelming. Affects today’s generation as much as those who witnessed Dean’s starring debut.

August: Switching Channels. 1988. Tonight’s News. Romance. Scandal. Intrigue. And that’s just behind the camera!

September: The Last Time I saw Paris. 1954. A tragic love story set against post World War II Paris.

October: Not without my Daughter. 1991.  Depicts the escape of American citizen Betty Mahmoody and her daughter from her husband in Iran.

November: A Mystery Movie – read the Clues!!!
