Throwim-away Leg. Thankyou
Alex for your choice of this unusual book. The title
Throwim-away Leg refers not to
someone coping with an absent leg, but to several scientists coping very
well with treks through the forests of New Guinea, assisted by local
natives who are skilled at hunting. They are able to find, photograph
and save the bones of various marsupials such as the tree kangaroo and
types of very large rats that were thought to be extinct, as well as
eating catches that were not required.
We had our last meeting for the year
on the 7th December. As the U3A were then in the process of
moving, we decided to have our meeting at my home in Churchill. This
worked out well and we had a good end-of-the-year afternoon tea, as
everyone brought a plate of goodies.
Over the next 2 months we will be
reading a biography of Samuel Pepys. No doubt we will need the 2 months
what with Christmas festivities, then the 386 pages of small print to
consume.
Good reading to
everyone.
Olivia Jackson and Anne Ritchie.
